Call Me Mouse Mom!

I have mice, you think I'd know their habits by now.  Maybe I've just been too busy telling Mr. Urban Daddy to get off his ass and come home and hang out with his kids.

Thank god Dan Cossins over at The Scientist magazine brought this important info to my attention:

Mouse mothers emit ultrasound vocalizations and odor cues to stimulate otherwise uninterested fathers to provide parental care to their pups.

See? I've been going about it all wrong. What my husband needs is some ODORS (unwashed armpit? burnt toast? shit-filled diaper?) Whatever it is that excites his parenting center. Or maybe I should start practicing ultrasound vocalizations. Yeah. Maybe that would work...
